Mohammad Muneem, known by his artist name Alif, is an acclaimed poet, singer, and songwriter. He is the recipient of multiple awards, including the Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival Award for the single Lalnawat, IRAA Award for the single Like a Sufi, and the IIMA Award for ‘Best Folk Song’ – Ride Home. His music straddled various themes and genres. In a chaotic world, Alif’s Siyah | FItna Fitoor is a powerful composition encouraging listeners to find their own paths to triumph, to persevere, and to be reborn as their new selves. Alif was recently featured in Coke Studio Bharat’s Season 2 where he was the vocal composer for Kya Karie Korimol‘ – a track that unveils a beautiful father-daughter bond on a wedding day. He will also be featuring in Amazon Prime’s Made in Heaven Season 2. Since 2014, he has been teaching song-writing and poetry at Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce, Pune. He is an adept film-maker and scriptwriter, conceptualises and directs videos, and has written dialogues for the feature film Torbaaz, starring Sanjay Dutt. His Kashmiri poem ‘Korkun’ has been published by Seagull in their anthology book Reclaiming Plurality Amid Hatred.
