There’s good reason Midival Punditz, the New Delhi-based duo of Gaurav Raina and Tapan Raj, are known as the Chemical Brothers of India. For 18 years, their pulsing, driving electronica has pulled from an eclectic variety of sounds from across the planet. They’ve played countless shows across the country and the world and show no signs of stopping. With Light (Six Degrees Records), their fourth full-length studio album, they’ve created their first performance-based concept record, rooted as much in Western rock as the diverse folk traditions of India.
They’ve collaborated with everyone from Anoushka Shankar to Ustad Sultan Khan, won a GIMA Award, and even produced the music for Chak De, amongst other Indian films. They’ve played at the Glastonbury Festival, Alicia Keys’ Black Ball, the Dubai Rock Festival and IIFA Madrid. And now, they’re coming to the Jaipur Music Stage.
